Kid Cudi Opens Up About Cocaine Use, Problems With Wale In Complex Cover Story

Kid Cudi opened up a lot during a new cover story for Complex magazine, where he admits to heavy cocaine use over the past year, throws some shots Wale's way, and even reveals that he recently welcomed a child into the world.

If readers remember correctly, the rapper (real name: Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) was arrested in June on felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance charges after police were called the apartment of his girlfriend following a domestic dispute.

A month later, Cudi said he was "wilding out" and had since calmed down, sticking to marijuana instead of other illegal substances.

In a very open and honest Q&A with Complex, he addressed the cocaine use directly, explaining that he used it to get through his media obligations.

"I started doing cocaine to get through interviews, 'cause people wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn't prepared for a '60 Minutes' interview every time," Cudi told the mag. "Doing bumps I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down -- it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it. I never thought it was a problem, but I was definitely high-fiving death a couple of times.

"No more blow," he later added. "People do drugs to camouflage emotions and run away from their problems. Now I'm going to deal with certain things as they come, prioritize sh** -- man up, so to speak."

The rapper goes on to reveal that on his upcoming album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, he speaks about these same issues, which in the past, he wasn't able to do.

"It took a lot for me to talk about sh** like this on the album. I don't feel like I need to explain myself to anyone besides the fans," Cudi said. "My fans don't believe shit until they hear me say it. And those are true Kid Cudi fans. I want them to know the story."

Complex also questioned Cudi about his situation with Wale, who referenced Cudi's infamous fan assault in a freestyle called "Thank You." According to Cudi, it just showed the world that he's "wack."

"It wasn't a shot, it's just a simple-ass rhyme by a simple-ass rapper," Cudi said of the freestyle. "You can't let that sh** faze you. That's one of those raps that just shows the world that you wack. Why would you even use that as a metaphor? Everybody think they Hov. N****s ain't got the magic like they think they do; there's only a couple of wizards in this game. I'm a wizard and I know it.

"These other motherf***ers like feeding off another n****'s energy, so they mention their name. You hear me talk about n****s? I don't even talk about Kanye, and that's my homeboy," Cudi continued. "They talk about Kanye like they're bosom buddies with this n****. Talking about 'I be in Hawaii' -- man, shut the f*** up, why you got to tell everybody everything? Then people like Wale get mad that 'Ye ain't give him no beats -- 'Ye ain't give you no beats because we ain't f***ing with your raps. It's not a conspiracy theory. We don't f*** with you musically, so we're not going to provide music for you."

As for his new baby, Cudi revealed that it's a girl. He named her Vada and she was born on March 26th.
